Sleeve Gastrectomy

A surgical intervention that is performed in order to restrict the patient’s stomach capacity. About 75% of the stomach is removed, so the patient will quickly be full, eat less food, and begin to lose weight. The stomach’s function is not altered at all, only its capacity. This procedure has the advantage that the hormones that control the appetite diminish considerably, causing the patient not to feel so much need to eat.

Sleeve gastrectomy is suitable for patients with moderate obesity of 30-35 BMI.

Through sleeve gastrectomy, the patient can lose between 50% to 60% of excess weight, as long as they follow the medical indications.
