Single-port laparoscopic surgery or Laparoendoscopic single site (LESS) is performed by inserting a trocar through an incision of the abdominal wall (often the navel), which is specially designed with four channels, which allow subsequent placement of different laparoscopic instruments.
Advantages of this procedure:
- Reduces aggression on the abdominal wall
- Decreases pain during the postoperative period
- Improve the aesthetic result: the scar becomes imperceptible
- Recovery could be faster than with traditional laparoscopy
